With tensions and stakes high as Starfleet continues in their efforts to end the war with Klingons, Burnham begins to settle in to her new position aboard the U.S.S. Discovery. Meanwhile, Voq tries to restore power to the cripple ship of the House of T'Kuvma...
Discovery has found it's feet, much earlier than any other Trek series before it. We lose our head of tactical, but we gained so much more knowledge about what Discovery is trying to accomplish (both the crew on the ship and the show itself.)

And while the rumours swirl on-line that this is all a clandestine operation by the shifty folks over in Section 31 and that's the reason why we've never heard of Discovery in all of Star Trek, I still maintain that this is a great new direction for the franchise to go. They've spent 12 years off the air and when this writing staff came on board they opened the windows and blew away the cobwebs that had been setting in ever since 2001.

Having said that, there is still a shift in the tone, feel and direction of the show from Gene's original utopian vision... but I think that needed to happen to stay relevant to the core of the show - holding a mirror to our present day society, and I suppose since I'm a product of the DS9 era, I'm more ready to accept and adapt to this darker shade of grey.
