On a camping trip in the Gamma Quadrant, Sisko, Jake, Nog and Quark encounter the muscle of the Dominion, the feared Jem'Hadar.
HERE... WE... GO!

Deep Space Nine has plodded along for 46 episodes, but has finally discovered the story it wants to tell and begins to weave the tapestry here. Nog's interest in Starfleet, I think, begins here - with his excitment to be in the cockpit of the runabout.

The Dominion are still not quite what they will be... but we'll get there. The only thing I wish is that the Dominion were built up to be a bigger deal throughout the two seasons, with stragglers coming from the Gamma Quadrant looking for refuge, but anyway... I digress.

Never before has a Star Trek series ended with our lead character saying 'the first battle will be fought here, and I intend to be ready for them.' It's such a militaristic mindset and one that once had no place in the franchise. Our heroes didn't attack, they defended. Not anymore.
