Quark and Rom take Nog to Earth in the bartender's new shuttle. However as they approach the planet, the illegal cargo they're carrying causes an accident which sends the trio back to 1947 in a place called Roswell, New Mexico...
So, the little green men that landed in New Mexico were Ferengi and the US military were very eager to get their hands on their technology! I think that this is the episode that cements where Deep Space Nine wants to tell it's 'current time' stories, they'll revist the 1940's and 1950's themes and issues a few more times throughout the series.

As for the comedy aspect, well Ira couldn't have picked a better trio of characters to be placed in out of their comfort zone! And Nog got the uniforms wrong, calling them Australian... nice.
