Star Trek contains seven hundred and sixteen episodes, twenty two running approximately twenty two minutes while the remaining all one hour episodic formats - the longest per episode goes to the original series at over fifty minutes each, while the TNG-era episodes clock in at around forty four minutes. All episodes were filmed on 35mm film, except for Enterprise's third and fourth seasons which were filmed on high definition tape.

Since 2009, episodes from The Original Series, The Next Generation and Enterprise have been 'remastered' in high definition and released on BluRay. These episodes were chosen because of the readily available source material, the original camera negatives. Conversion of Deep Space Nine and Voyager pose a greater degree of difficulty due to their dependency on computer generated imagery which was only rendered for the analogue television broadcast market.
