Doctor Jetrel arrives on Voyager to tell Neelix that he might be terminally ill. Neelix refuses to accept his offer of help, recalling how the doctor created the metreon cascade, which was deployed on the moon of Rinax killing over 300, 000 Talaxians.
Neelix is in the spotlight this time and we learn about a devastating war that took place with the loss of millions of Talaxians. It can be argued that this is an analogy of Hiroshima and the A-bomb at the end of the second world war... but as is rightly pointed out by Michael Piller 'You can't say that every show is making a comment.'

Our morale officer experiences some serious emotions for the first time as the man who caused a radical shift in his life comes aboard. Ethan Phillips got to play Neelix in a different light and it was great.
