Dawn Spacecraft Approaches Ceres – Revolutionary Propulsion Powers Probe Towards Asteroid

NASA’s Dawn spacecraft is using ion propulsion, which is more efficient than the traditional chemical propellant, to get around the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The spacecraft visited asteroid Vesta for 14 months from 2011 and is set to initiate an orbital insertion maneuver around Ceres on March 6.
