55 Years Ago This Week – Star Trek Was First Put to Film
It’s hard to imagine a world without Star Trek, but fifty five years ago Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the future was only just taking shape thanks to the support of Lucille Ball.
At the time she was one of the most powerful women in Hollywood, having received ownership of the Desilu Studios following her divorce. She overruled her boards decision to turn down The Cage and took a gamble while trying to expand her studio.
