Worf hasn’t had too much of dedicated screen time on DS9 since he joined in season four (there’s been the odd episode here and there and in the beginning of this season it was shared with Martok and then his wedding.) But this episode went from following a married couple in their daily life to a life or death decision.
Knowing now that Terry’s contract negotiations had stalled and she was leaving by season’s end, I think this would’ve been the perfect way to wrap the character… but in saying that, I would’ve panned the outcome for being too ‘typical’, about how the good guys always win and do the right thing. Here we see our beloved Worf not thinking about the mission or the greater good, but rather he himself and his par’mach, his wife.
Back on the station the very light tongo battle between Quark and Bashir confirmed that the good Doctor’s hopes have truly been dashed and he must move on…
