Our second episode out of the gate and our first look at the episodic nature of The Orville, with a hint of continuing character exploration. Not only do we learn about Moclan egg laying and a nasty race who keep sentient beings as pets in a zoo… but we also discover Alara’s inexperience coupled with her maturation as a command level officer.
Ed and Kelly continue to explore the reasons for their marriage breakup and while some of it does feel a little cheesy – this is merely the show finding it’s feet and working out not only what works and what doesn’t, but how it works or doesn’t… thankfully it will be resolved in time.
