Maybe it’s just me, but I never felt as much sadness – and still don’t – at this and Next Gen’s finales. I think the biggest thing is that the family is still together and there’s no prolonged hugs goodbye or speeches, or jazz songs wishing our crew the best.
Voyager, especially, just returns home… we see her heading towards Earth and fade out. I guess we know that the crew is going to break up, they have to, but we don’t see it. I personally love the ending… it allowed the writers to focus on the meat of the story rather than shoe horning in a plot device that clicks our heels three times.
So long Voyager, you’ve been fun.
