Another of the great episodes from the first season! An alien vessel who just attacks without warning or reason, it’s something we haven’t seen in Star Trek before and it was perfectly directed by the master of suspense Winrich Kolbe. My initial review on the Malcolm’s favourite food B-plot was one of disappointment, but with another viewing and a greater appreciation for character driven stories, it was a great diversion from all of the action taking place and provided some great character development for Hoshi and Reed.
We also see the beginnings of friendship between Sato and Phlox too as the pair try to work out another way to find out what our armory officer’s favourite food is.
