Beverly Crusher, please attend the majority of this episode for some long overdue character development… and then have it let down by a rather bizarre plot following a creature that has inhabited female members of the Howard line for generations.

Meanwhile, in an excuse to avoid new alien costumes and sets… one of the first terraforming projects in the Federation is finished in a very Scottish way. At least, they don’t avoid the issue and say that is very clearly what they set out to achieve…
