Burnham learns of her connections to Section 31 as the crew of Discovery work towards capturing the Red Angel…
I bet you didn’t know you had those questions did you? Burnham, Spock, Georgiou, Leeland… all starred in this fine installment as we sort of get back on track with the Red Angel once again. (By the way, what’s happened to that faith component?)
My fears from the last episode about Airiam’s return seem to have been addressed with her full on ship-wide memorial, complete with torpedo tube lowered and launched around a planet. Farewell our robotically-augmented friend.
Pressing on, Control’s out there now on all manner of Section 31 ships and that can’t be a good thing. This episode marks a return to the famous (infamous?) and traditional Star Trek briefing, involving a few characters hammering the plot forward with exposition speak a-plenty.
You wouldn’t think Burnham, as the lead, would need plenty of screentime to flesh out her character.. yet it’s what we got, and what we needed. From comforting Nhan about her decision to eject Airiam to moments with Spock and building some semblance of trust in Georgiou.
In the end, the hugely technobabble-y contraption to secure The Red Angel works and we learn it’s … Mum!
