Awesome. This is the episode where Deep Space Nine steps out of the shadow of TNG and boldly takes it’s first steps as the leader of the franchise… and they got it right. I love the darker side of Trek that DS9 portrays, it’s more realistic – sure Earth maybe a paradise, and I’m sure we can get to that state one of these days… but not everyone is going to share that philosophy and we can’t force it down everyone’s throats.
The Dominion is the anti-Federation, they conquer and don’t ask for an invite… they instill fear rather than optimism and our crew struggle to understand that concept although slowly Sisko is realising that there is no negotiation, there is just fighting.
