VALE: Harve Bennett

TREKZONE.org is saddened to report that Harve Bennett has passed away at the age of 84.

Harve came aboard Star Trek for the second movie – The Wrath of Kahn. In a 2012 interview with the LA Times, Leonard Nimoy said of the executive producer:

‘He put that beached whale back in the water.’

Referring to the not-so-fantastic response to The Motion Picture. Harve helmed the next four movies – up to The Final Frontier. Following that films lackluster performance he left the movie franchise. He had many credits outside of Trek, including The Mod Squad, The Invisible Man and more. He worked at CBS as a production executive and at ABC America in the programming department, that was after having served in the US Army Police Corps, honourably discharged in 1955 with the rank of Corporal.

Harve is the third Trek alumni we have lost in two weeks and he will be missed by those that knew him and fans worldwide who loved his work.
