Solar Orbiter Launches to Study Sun

Complementing NASA's Solar Parker Probe and the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope in Hawaii is the latest addition to the solar system probe fleet - the Solar Orbiter.

Complementing NASA’s Solar Parker Probe and the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope in Hawaii is the latest addition to the solar system probe fleet – the Solar Orbiter.

This craft will use gravity assists from Earth and Venus to get closer than ever before to the poles of our closest star, to analyse just what makes space weather tick. Dr Brad Tucker and Matt Miller discuss on this week’s Talkin Science.
