STARFLEET ACADEMY
Paramount+, in the last few hours, has confirmed a series order for a new show that will “follow the adventures of a new class of Starfleet cadets as they come of age in one of the most legendary places in the galaxy.” Alex Kurtzman will co-showrun alongside Noga Landau (creator of the CW’s Nancy Drew).
Based on the description of the Academy “reopening after a century” – we can assume that the world-building in Discovery’s recent seasons will continue – setting us in the 32nd century. Could Trek alum guest star as holograms?
Tawny Newsome, of the Lower Decks writers room, has posted on Twitter that she’s joined the new series as well.

DISCOVERY
Since we haven’t mentioned it on the site yet, Discovery has been cancelled – with the forthcoming fifth season to be it’s last. This isn’t unexpected – as Larry Nemecek and Matt have alluded to a five season run since the series triggered the tumultuous return of Star Trek to the silver screen.
Our database will be getting a much needed coat of paint and some love in the very near future to take in all of these new episodes.
