Europa Clipper Launches

At the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Falcon Heavy has lofted Europa Clipper off planet Earth bound for Jupiter's icy moon.

The largest sapcecraft ever built will carry out the first dedicated mission to an ocean world beyond Earth once it’s clocked up over two point nine billion kilometers via a gravity assist at Mars in four months and back home in 2026.

With forty nine orbits of Europa planned from 2031, NASA is hoping to unlock the secrets of life potential on other worlds with it’s nine scientific instruments including ice-penetrating radar, cameras and thermal imaging on the hunt for warmer ice and any recent water eruptions.
