BBC Announces Cinematic Release in Australia for Doctor Who

Get set Whovians! Off the back of the ABC’s announcement that the Rove fronted panel show about everyone’s favourite Time Lord will be back, BBC Australia have teamed up with Sharmill Films to create a cinematic event for the premiere of the long awaited new season.

The highly anticipated eleventh season of the time travelling action adventure series introduces Jodie Whittaker as the thirteenth Doctor, and she’ll take control of the TARDIS along with a new group of friends, including Bradley Walsh as Graham, Tosin Cole as Ryan and Mandip Gill as Yasmin.

“The debut of the first female doctor and her team of friends is a momentous occasion in the Doctor Who universe. We are delighted to give audiences the chance to experience this exciting moment on the big screen,” said Louise Hill, Live Entertainment Manager for BBC Studios ANZ.

Sharmill Films Marketing Manager, Jacinta Palmer, said “We are thrilled to collaborate once again with BBC Studios to present this very special cinema event for Australian fans – particularly in ushering in the enormously talented Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.”

Select theatres will be playing The Woman Who Fell To Earth, season 11’s premiere, as well as some behind the scenes footage on the 8th of October – so be sure to secure your tickets now!
