Arriving at Starbase 74 for much needed repairs, the Bynars, a race interdependant on computers, use Minuet – a beautiful holographic woman – as a distraction for Riker, as they hijack the ship to save their dying world…
Hijacking the Enterprise is pretty easy, apparently… it happens, or at least tries to, at least three times in the series! It’s ashame we never got to see an assimilated Bynar, or them at all again…
I’m a little confused by the evacuation of the ship, and the speed at which it left the starbase… surely there was enough time to beam back and try and regain control rather than just look at it reverse out…? And the self destruct (auto destruct) rules change a few times over the coming years. The Bynar’s thinking is flawed though… they only lured Riker to the holodeck, but two people were needed to unlock the file.
First mention of the Triest and Melbourne too…
