Star Trek Fan Event in Hollywood Honours Nimoy; Premieres Trailer for New Movie

An interesting event took place in and around Paramount’s famous stage 32 in Hollywood on Friday evening LA time. Paramount had invited fans to an exclusive screening of two scenes and the new trailer from the upcoming movie Star Trek: Beyond.

From the looks of the above trailer, it seems that Paramount has listened to the disdained howls from fans regarding the original trailers over the top action and stupid 21st century music. This time around we get a sense that the movie will spend much of it’s time growing the interpersonal relationships between the characters, pairing them off following the destruction of the Enterprise.

It was confirmed by producer JJ Abrams and director Justin Lin during the preceeding Q&A session that there will be fifty unique alien species appearing in the movie to commemorate the franchises anniversary. We also already know that a tribute to ‘Prime Spock’ will take some form – to mark the passing of Leonard Nimoy.

Paramount also held a dedication ceremony to name the street outside Stage 31 & 32 Leonard Nimoy Boulevard.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I’ve updated the movie page to reflect the new information.
