It’s certainly been a challenge to produce, present, edit and release Australia’s FIRST weekly science fiction podcast since the premiere episode on December 13. I’ve relearnt some lessons and discovered some new pitfalls, but overall I’ve enjoyed presenting an Aussie flavour to science fiction and science news.
It’s been a couple of months since episode nine and a few weeks since I’ve been back in the home office of TREKZONE.org… but I’ve been working with some great footage from a road trip to a medieval festival and the nation’s capital – Canberra. I’ve got many hours of footage in the can and will be editing together three awesome ten minute episodes.
Australia is a very different country than anything in Europe, we are seperated by such vast distances that I am still discovering destinations worthwhile visiting again, one of those places is Ironfest ’16 – a medieval festival with a difference. Not only did we meet knights and steampunk cosplayers, but also war reenactors, pyrotechnic specialists and some really friendly folk.
For week two I’m going to feature three very different fields of study at the Australian National University, together they are working towards enhancing our knowledge of the universe. And finally, in week three, we’re off to the Tidbinbilla Deep Space Communication Complex, one of three sites around the world that help NASA stay in touch with all of the missions in the solar system.
It was an absolute blast to film, and I can’t wait to bring you the first episode next Sunday.
SciFi Weekly returns Sunday, May 22 Australian time.
