2019 on TREKZONE.org

The new year is going to be another blockbuster for Australia’s first Star Trek fan site, following the cracking pace set in 2018.

Firstly, lets take a look back at the year that was The Trekzone Spotlight…

Trek authors David Mack and Dayton Ward joined the show to chat about their work. Lee Sargent’s first visit would see him discuss his ambitious Star Trek 365 project, he’d come back six months later to update me on his progress. In March, the 8 Bit Guy dropped by to chat about the progress of computers thanks to SciFi. I was in Perth a month later, as part of a filming road trip which saw me visit RAAF Base Pearce for an ANZAC Day special.

In May Gary O’Brien afforded Trekzone the exclusive interview when his crowdfunding goal was achieved by a single generous, benevolent donor. I got to actually meet Vic Mignogna in person when Supanova rolled around to Brisbane. Once More with Feeling, Trekzone’s very own fan film, released… and has been viewed over 15,000 times since that July premiere. Then a day later I celebrated 100 podcasts since July 10 2013.

So, with all that under my belt… how could I possibly top it in 2019? Well, there’s already two episodes booked in to record before January 7 and two more being lined up. That’s a jump of 10 days on 2018’s season, and I’m hoping to beat this years 40 week continuous run, with 45 weeks of non stop content.

The same coverage you’ve come to know from Trekzone will be here, from science fiction alumni, science professionals and fan film producers… they’ll all be joining me for a new format, new look show.

For the website, the move to WordPress is a fundamental shift to bring you the best experience combined with a coherent database – all without any ads – and in 2019 she’ll receive a facelift.

PLUS! There will be an international trip to a Star Trek convention, with daily vlogs, video interviews and more… so stay tuned for the announcement on that in February.

For now, I hope you have a happy new year, and I look forward to growing Trekzone even further in 2019.
