Michelle Yeoh’s Philippa Georgiou is moving to her own series, CBS announced this morning.
According to the eye the as-yet-untitled series “will expand on Yeoh’s current role as a member of Starfleet’s Section 31 division, a shadow organization within the Federation, on Star Trek: Discovery.”
“I’m so excited to continue telling these rich Star Trek stories,”
“Being a part of this universe and this character specifically has been such a joy for me to play. I can’t wait to see where it all goes – certainly, I believe it will go ‘where no WOMAN has ever gone before!’” Michelle Yeoh said.
CBS Television Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment will produce the live action series, with Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serving as executive producers. Aaron Baiers will serve as co-executive producer along with series writing duties to be shared by Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt. It was also announced that Kim and Lippoldt will serve as showrunners.
This brings the total number of Star Trek shows under development at CBS to five. Any more, and I’ll need another hand to count them on!
