Akiva Goldsman has stated that they’re not making a Next Gen sequel, this series will be “slower, more lyrical, more character focused.”
Alison Pill’s character gets a name Dr. Agnes Jurati, a researcher, someone who’s confused about her place in the world. Michelle Hurd’s character Raffi Musiker has an unrelated relationship Picard’s past, commenting that it’s a “delicious character to play.” Australia’s Evan Evagora plays Elnor, no further details on him though.
In the shiny new trailer several Trek alum are seen, including Jeri Ryan, Brent Spiner and Jonathan Del Arco. Showrunner Michael Chabon also revealed that Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis will appear. Stewart said that the chemistry of the new cast cemented faster than he expected, but it was a lot of fun when the TNG-era stars showed up too.
