Science fiction, fantasy and horror’s night of nights has just wrapped up and Star Trek: Discovery has taken home some serious statues from the gala event. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films put together the forty fifth Saturn awards in Hollywood on September 13.
It’s the first year the awards have split the major series categories by their release platform, that meant that streaming was able to get an extended array of awards. Avengers: Endgame won for best comic-to-film, Ready Player One took out best SciFi motion picture while Robert Downey Jr won best actor (film) and Jamie Lee Curtis was best actress for Laurie Strode in Halloween.
Discovery itself won as Best Streaming SciFi, Action and Fantasy series – competing against Black Mirror, Jack Ryan and Lost in Space. Sonequa Martin-Green won Best Actress for a streaming series and Doug Jones won for Best Supporting Actor in a Streaming Series.
Congratulations everyone who worked on the series, proving that Star Trek is back – better than ever, and ahead of the competition.
