The forthcoming Star Trek: Picard has been renewed for a second season the official website confirmed in a post Monday morning, Australian time.

This is exciting news, and a vote of confidence in the Michael Chabon-led series which is set to hold a red carpet premiere event tomorrow in Los Angeles ahead of the January 23 CBS All Access and January 24 “rest of the world” Amazon Prime premieres.

Speaking at the biannual Television Critics Association presentation, EVP of Original Content for All Access Julie McNamara broke the news. Of the anticipation building for the series she said,

“The energy and excitement around the premiere of Star Trek: Picard has reached a magnitude greater than all of us at CBS All Access could have hoped for,”

While Trekzone missed out on an invite to the red carpet, we have been given press access to the first three episodes this week and will have spoiler-free reviews on-line on the 24th, with episode pages going live each week.
