Star Trek’s Massive 2022 Laid Out

ViacomCBS released a swath of announcements overnight about what 2022 is going to look like from a Trekkie's perspective, and I hope you didn't have any plans for the next six months worth of Thursday's (Friday's internationally)...

Lets dive into these announcements by release order this year, with Prodigy continuing for four more episodes, wrapping on February 3. Discovery then picks up the mantle on February 10 to round out it’s fourth season with four more episodes as well, we’re then treated to double Trek Thursday on March 3 as Disco wraps and Picard season two kicking off.

10 weeks later we’ll get another double Trek Thursday with Strange New Worlds premiering May 5. Beyond that Lower Decks returns in the US summer with a 10 ep third season. And then the second season – now season 1.5 of Prodigy will round out our year.

Return to work notices have been posted for Strange New Worlds and Discovery, with the former receiving a second season order before premiere and Discovery entering it’s fifth year. The crew at Picard are continuing to work on season three – likely to be that series last.

With the Netflix affiliation a distant, but still painful, memory, ten episode seasons seem to be the norm now and the long ago touted Star Trek empire is here… non stop Trek across your year. Settle in and black out your Thursday nights America – Friday nights around the world.
