By Matt

Star Trek: The Next Generation writer Maurice Hurley passed away today at the age of 76. Maurice was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1939. Before TNG, Maurice was a co-executive producer on 1985’s “The Equaliser” TV series and afterwards he was co-EP on Baywatch.

Maurice wrote 12 eps of TNG including the introduction to the Borg – Q Who. Rick Berman attributes Gate McFadden’s departure at the end of season one to Hurley who was believed to have disliked her acting. When he left the show at the end of the second season, Gates returned.
