Chance Encounter Sets Benchmark for Character Driven Fan Fiction

Last year Gary O’Brien and his friend set about making their next short film in the United Kingdom, they didn’t realise at the time but a year later they would be set to premiere a quality production set in the Star Trek universe, embracing the guidelines railed by so many. Their short would feature two groups of two characters interacting with each other in a very simple setting telling an effective story.

While it is a little slow in some parts, the plot twist in the third part of the short pays the audience off with a quality TOS-style spin. I caught up with Gary O’Brien, the director and writer, today just before the February 1 premiere.
