CBS All Access has just announced the first two cast members to join Patrick Stewart on the forthcoming – as yet untitled – Star Trek production to center around the captain of the Enterprise-D twenty-some years after Nemesis.
Santiago Cabrera recently starred for two seasons on the CBS suspense thriller Salvation, and was in HBO’s Big Little Lies opposite Reese Witherspoon and Australia’s Nicole Kidman. Michelle Hurd garnered attention for her role as Shepherd on NBC’s hit drama Blindspot and was recently seen on FOX’s action crime series Lethal Weapon. Hurd can also be seen in the upcoming final series of Marvel Universe’s Jessica Jones.
Interestingly for Australia, the press release ends with noting that All Access will release the series in the States – CBS Studios International will distribute the series abroad. This means the recently acquired Australian television network Channel 10, who recently launched 10 All Access, may be in pole position to acquire the series.
